Expressions of Victory Class #2

  • Victory Mission 1715 North Boonville Avenue Springfield, MO, 65803 United States (map)

Expressions of Victory is a social enterprise of Victory Mission. In September, Victory will host its first annual Expressions of Victory Gallery Event. This event will allow participants to share their art they have created for purchase by the general public. During this event, stories of Victory will be shared.

We are opening this up to SingleMomzRock, men from Victory Square (our men's shelter) and 2 ladies living at the Life360 Sister House. This is an incredible opportunity to be able to share your art with the rest of the 417 world and be able to make an income from it.

Here's how this will work. You do not HAVE to already be an artist to participate. Anyone who would like to follow this track, will need to fill out a case management plan. This process will collect some intake data, establish personal goals, and create an individualized business plan for your artwork. Typically, you will receive 90% of revenue from the sale of your art from the gallery event.

We do have several artists in the group however, so I welcome the mature artists!

Art can be what you make of it. It could be poetry, photography, paintings, mosaics, etc. Even clothing!

We will be hosting three open art classes (June 19th, July 17th and Aug 21 from 6-8pm) on the 3rd floor of Victory Mission leading up to our gallery event. These open classes will be hosted by an art teacher each night. These nights can be used to learn a new medium of art or can be used to work on the existing art you have been working on. There is no limit to the amount of pieces for the gallery event you can submit (this would be discussed during the intake process.)

If you are wanting to do this I need a hard YES from you. This will be a commitment because I will need your pieces for the gallery event to sell in September to make that event a success. I will also need to know what kind of medium you plan on working with and if you will be starting from scratch or working on an existing piece. This will also help with the art teachers because I will need to get the right kinds of art teachers in to teach the majority of the art most art doing. We do have money in the budget to help buy some minimum art supplies so I will need that question answered before our first class next Tues night.

This is an incredible opportunity ladies. I hope you see that and plan to Express your story of Victory.

Please email Janelle if you wish to be included to discuss further: jreed@victorymission.com
